2017 Candidate for Nominating Committee - Charlotte Morris, CNM, DNP
Morris, CNM, DNP
Candidate Statement Related to Office:
Over the last 30 years of my life I have cared for women during their childbearing years. Most of that time has been spent caring for an under-served inner city population. My purpose and calling has been to serve others. As a nurse-midwife I have had the privilege of serving women from all walks of life and cultures. Whether it is advocating for a safe birth, or educating to empower someone to take ownership of their healthcare, it is providing a service. The greatest gift one can give to another is the gift of service. Midwifery is a caring profession where we have the opportunity to touch lives every day making a difference. My life experiences have prepared me for this opportunity to serve ACNM as a member of the nominating committee. In this position I will be able to help choose our future leaders who will steer the direction of the college. Some of the issues that need to continue to be developed within ACNM include diversity and inclusion initiatives. Just as we nurture the patients we care for we need to nurture and appreciate one another. In addition, we are facing daily changes to our healthcare system. What can we do as an organization to help the continued development of a healthcare system that provides equal access to healthcare for all? I hope to be able to select motivated candidates ready to take on the challenges that come with serving.
