Executive Office

Katrina Holland, Chief Executive Officer

As ACNM’s Chief Executive Officer, Katrina works in partnership with the Board of Directors and advances the mission by providing oversight to ensure the implementation of ACNM’s strategic plan. She leads the national office staff team and ensures that staffing expertise and organizational resources are effectively aligned to enhance ACNM’s growth and ensure its sustainability. Bringing over 20 years of association leadership experience across the healthcare, legal and tax professions, past senior staff positions include stints at National Association of Enrolled Agents, the International Association for the Study of Pain and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Katrina spent the first half of her career living in Chicago, before returning to her roots of East Coast living. She is originally from North Carolina and currently resides with her family in Maryland.

Jewel Saunders, Executive Assistant

Jewel Saunders currently serves as the Executive Assistant, working closely with the CEO on activities such as coordinating ACNM board meetings, managing the ACNM volunteer contact list, organizing meetings, conference calls, as well as appointments. Jewel supports the Nominating Committee in facilitating the annual elections process as well as supports the Awards Committee during the annual awards ceremony process. She received her Bachelor’s in Business Management from the University of the District of Columbia. Her non-profit career spans 17 years working for organizations such as American Nurses Association, American Institute for Cancer Research, and American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition. She has received certificates for completing courses such as Basic Supervision, Project Management, and Effective Communication Skills. Jewel currently resides in Washington, DC.

Advocacy & Government Affairs

Amy Kohl, Director of Advocacy & Government Affairs

Amy M. Kohl is ACNM’s Director of Advocacy Government Affairs. In this capacity, Amy is responsible for leading the development and implementation of ACNM’s federal and state policy agenda in alignment with ACNM’s strategic plan. A core focus of her work is identifying and maximizing opportunities for integration of midwives and midwifery-led care models throughout the care continuum. Prior to joining the ACNM, Amy spent over a decade with the Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) lobbying for policy issues impacting our nation’s medical products supply chain and distribution channels. Prior to joining HIDA, Amy worked for a state government relations consulting firm and also spent time working for a national political campaign committee. With 20 years of experience in national health policy and state affairs, Amy also has a personal connection to ACNM’s mission, as midwives in Washington, D.C. attended the births of both of her children. A native of the Northern Neck of Virginia, Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Finance & Operations

Marc Rucker, Vice President of Finance and Operations

Marc Rucker, MBA is the Vice President of Finance and Operations for the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) overseeing the finance department, IT department, and operations of the College to include Human Resources. I have three staff members on my team. I deliver monthly financial reports to the Finance & Audit Committee (FAC).

Marc has over twenty years experience in the Finance industry having worked in both corporate and non-profit sectors. Marc is originally from Massachusetts and currently resides in Virginia.

June Ewan, Accounting Manager

June Ann Ewan, MBA is the Accounting Manager for the American College of Nurse-Midwives. June manages all things financial, including the monthly financial close, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the Annual Audit. June has worked in the Non-For-Profit sector for over 20 years. Although she has a passion for Accounting, she spends her weekends teaching children. She received her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Sujata Chavan, Senior Accountant I

Sue Chavan is the Sr. Accountant at American College of Nurse Midwives, joined in 2011. She is responsible for the functions of Accounts payable and Accounts receivable. She assists in annual audit, monthly closing of books. Performs collection, documents transactions, maintains financial records & manages accounting books. She has over 20 years of accounting experience working for nonprofit and profit sectors, like Catholic Charities HQ in Washington DC, CHI, Inc., PSA CPA accounting firm. She has received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Pune, India and the Diploma in Accounting from ICS, Scranton, PA.

Directs the content, focus, strategic development and operations of JMWH, the official journal of ACNM.

Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon, PhD, CNM, ARNP, FACNM, Deputy Editor JMWH (off-site)

Makes acceptance and rejection decisions for manuscripts, and works with authors throughout the revision process. Solicits manuscripts, writes editorials, and reviews Share With Women patient education handouts.
Linda Hunter, CNM, FACNM, EdD, Deputy Editor, JMWH (off-site)

Makes acceptance and rejection decisions for manuscripts, and works with authors throughout the revision process. Solicits manuscripts, writes editorials, and reviews Share With Women patient education handouts.


Michael Hamilton, Director, Membership Development

Michael is a twenty year veteran of association management with a focus on delivering high-value member experience by centering member perspective and needs in both strategy and operations. During his twenty year career, Michael has worked primarily for professional societies that support healthcare and health professionals. At ACNM he oversees the membership experience, which includes customer service, membership operations and the development of recruitment and retention strategies.

An avid theater-goer, Michael never misses a chance to take advantage of the cultural opportunities in Washington, DC.

Anisa Yusuf, Membership and Affiliate Specialist

Anisa Yusuf joined ACNM in 2016 and serves as the Membership and Affiliate Specialist. She is the point of contact for Affiliate Leaders and works closely with the Affiliate Development & Support Committee in facilitating on-boarding for newly elected officers, oversees the administrative & financial maintenance of affiliates’ and supports related workshops at the ACNM Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Anisa has been a dedicated professional in the Association industry for 20 years, supporting Membership & Database Administration in healthcare, hospitality, architecture and legal organizations.

Anisa is fluent in English, Italian, Somali, Swahili and French (the latter at an intermediate level) and periodically works on independent translation/interpreting projects. She’s also a television/film enthusiast and is often called on by her colleagues for movie recommendations.

Midwifery Practice

Karen Jefferson, CM, FACNM, LM
Director of Midwifery Practice

Karen Jefferson, CM, DM, FACNM, is the Director, Midwifery Practice for the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She is responsible for ACNM’s education programs, including webinars and the annual meeting, working with staff and volunteers to deliver engaging and impactful educational content. In addition, she is a resource on midwifery practice for the staff, working with government affairs and domestic development to advance the profession. She works closely with the Midwifery Clinical Practice Advisor to carry out domestic grants, acts as a liaison to stakeholder groups, and supports the volunteers in the Division of Midwifery Advancement and Division of Research.

She comes to ACNM as a full-scope midwifery practice owner for 17 years, and a recent stint as program coordinator for the doctorate in midwifery at the Midwifery Institute at Jefferson. This position is Karen’s opportunity to merge all her interests: midwifery workforce, education, practice and advocacy.


Derica Clarke, Events Manager

Derica Clarke is the Events Manager for the American College of Nurse Midwives, executing the association’s events and online education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Tourism & Hospitality Management from Norfolk State University and served six years in the US Army, where she became dedicated to advocacy and leadership. She then transitioned into the association industry, where she began her hospitality career as a radio personality. During that time, she hosted and planned large-scale events such as fundraisers, galas, and outdoor festivals. After relocating to Washington, DC, Derica became a Project Manager for International Meetings and began planning 4,000+ attendee international & domestic conventions, small meetings, and webinars in countries such as Austria and France. She received the 2019 Smart Woman in Meetings Rising Star Award; is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA)’s ‘20 in Their Twenties’ Class of 2020, and is currently serving in her second year as an ambassador for Meetings Mean Business (MMB).

Maniya Arrington, Education Coordinator

Maniya Arrington serves as the Education Coordinator for ACNM. She assists with the planning, monitoring, and execution of educational courses, workshops, and conferences for the organization. She joins the ACNM Family with a background in maternal community health education, marketing, and events. She has extensive experience with non-profit management and enjoys sowing into the lives of others. She is a graduate of AIU-Atlanta with additional education from Clark Atlanta University and Johns Hopkins University.

Since 2018, she passionately fulfills her purpose in maternal health/advocacy by supporting causes and movements that benefit mothers, babies, and their families. Maniya currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband and two daughters.

Global and Domestic Grant Development

Sadaf Chaudhry, MD, MSPH, Director of Global and Domestic Development

Sadaf is serving as ACNM's Director of Global and Domestic Development, she is a physician and has worked on diverse public health programs globally, with donors worldwide including EU,USAID, PEPFAR, CDC and organizations like Plan International, The Asia Foundation, Islamic Relief UK, and Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL).

Sadaf is fluent in Urdu, English, Hindi, has working knowledge of Punjabi and Sindhi and can also read and write Arabic. Over the years, Sadaf has traveled extensively across Asia, Africa, Europe and Americas. She considers herself a global citizen blending into cultures and people around the globe. Sadaf moved from Pakistan to the US in 2007 and lives in Northern Virginia. She has a 13 year old son who loves to play soccer and tell stories.

Marketing and Communications
Natalia Kimrey, Associate Director of Marketing and Communications

As a newcomer to the association space, Natalia brings a fresh perspective for her role as Associate Director of Marketing & Communications. She will be overseeing marketing, communications, branding, and all integrated campaigns across ACNM, supporting the vision for the growth, sustainability, and diversity of midwifery.

Previously working in Florida state government, she managed data-driven, traffic safety campaigns for the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles and Department of Transportation, earning national and international recognition from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

Natalia earned her degree in Marketing and Risk Management, with a certificate in Hispanic Marketing Communication, from the Florida State University. Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, she is a new Maryland resident with her husband and two daughters, where they enjoy visiting new restaurants and parks together.

Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)

Angela Smith, ACME Executive Director

Executive leader of ACME overseeing all daily operations, finances, strategic direction of the agency working with three executive volunteer boards. 

Kristina Anderson, Accreditation Assistant

Working with the executive director, assists ACME board and midwifery education program directors in the ACME accreditation process.
