Perinatal substance use disorders are a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity. Many CNMs and CMs will provide care for people in the perinatal period who have current substance use disorders or histories of substance use disorders. This webinar, first in a series, will provide a general overview of perinatal substance use disorders, how to identify a person who has a substance use disorder, and why identifying and treating perinatal substance use disorders with kindness, compassion, and autonomy is fundamental to changing the tide and enhancing outcomes for this vulnerable population.
