The presentation features fully referenced slides, speaking notes, and a printable checklist for distribution, which summarizes clinical practices that can be applied in every birth setting in order to implement the latest Cochrane recommendations for care of laboring women. The Pearls can be presented in 45 to 60 minutes and is ideal for Obstetric Grand Rounds. Also included is a checklist of clinical practices that can be printed and copied for distribution.
Using the Speaker's Notes
To see the suggested speaking points in the "notes" section of the PowerPoint, you must be in "normal" mode. When you show the presentation, you will be in slide show mode. Thus, in order to have the notes in hand while giving the presentation, you will need to print them out in advance. When you go to the Print menu, there is a box that asks "print what"
use the scroll down menu to get to "notes pages" and then you will be able to print the notes pages.
The printable version of the "Pearls in Your Pocket" checklist, featured on page 101 of the presentation, is now available as a PDF download (click the pdf icon or here to start). This document contains a full-color version, as well as a page optimized for black and white printers. We recommend you print on heavier/card stock paper as many copies as you will need for your audience. Once printed, cut the page along the guides to create 6 cards per page. Instruct all in the audience to keep this checklist in their pocket as a reminder for actions that they should avoid as well as those they should employ to facilitate normal, physiologic birth. And, while at work, always keep a handful in your pocket to distribute to your colleagues at opportune times during your work day!
