Salem Hospital Sends Midwives Packing
Midwives at the Salem Women's Clinic have become popular among expectant parents in the Salem area. But four midwives at the clinic are being forced to end their practices at the end of June. The problem is a conflict between Salem Hospital and the doctor that oversees the midwives. The hospital says the case is isolated to one physician: Doctor Elizabeth Harmon. Now, she's filed an anti-trust lawsuit. And as unusual as that might sound, as Colin Fogarty reports, midwifery experts say the case is not unique. |

"I tell them in the beginning there was Adam and Eve and there probably was a midwife," said Berger, who works for the Women's Care Center in Rhinebeck and Kingston.
