Midwives DeliverBlankets for Babies The American College of Nurse-Midwives holds an exciting annual public service campaign: Blankets for BabiesTM. Since May 2000, ACNM has collected more than 8,000 baby blankets to donate to newborns in our Annual Meeting host cities, including Anchorage, Atlanta, Washington, DC, Palm Desert, CA, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and Boston. ACNM believes that every baby deserves the warmth and security of a new blanket. The contributions are made to deserving local women's health organizations that serve disadvantaged pregnant women who might not have the opportunity to provide a warm blanket for their newborn.
Beanies for Babies In 2007, ACNM added the Beanies for Babies campaign to warm the heads of newborns in countries where ACNM's Department of Global Outreach staff are working. So far, we have received over 2000 donated hats. Donations of baby hats are welcome. Please send donations to Annie Clark, ACNM, 8403 Colesville Road, Suite 1550, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Annual Meeting attendees are encouraged to bring blankets to ACNM's 54th Annual Meeting in Seattle, May 22-27, 2009. If you are interested in learning more about these programs, email pr@acnm.org.
