WK03 Healing the Healer Within
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Presented by: Dr. Victor LaCerva

In this dynamic interactive seminar, you will give yourself the gift of learning new strategies for managing stress and improving your conflict resolution and communication skills. Many health care workers, because of the nature of their service work, do not take care of themselves appropriately. They often work long hours, forget to take breaks, interact poorly with coworkers, and spread their stress around the living room when they get home. Healthy work environments encourage individuals to pay attention to self-care and their own physical and emotional wellbeing, which results in more content, creative and productive staff. Our time together will explore:

  • Tools for balancing the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves
  • Twelve ways to immediately reduce stress in the moment
  • Emotional fluency, the anatomy of anger and resolving conflict
  • What infants can teach us about state and energy management
  • The nature of the change process and how to effectively embody internal shifts and create new habits

Come relax, laugh, and learn some new tools to dance with stress!

Victor La Cerva, MD, had a pediatric practice in NYC where he made home visits after midwifery home births. Both of his daughters were born at home with a midwife, so he really gets it!

Hotel & Transportation Information

We have seen a very successful registration this year! As a result of such a successful turn out, we recently received news that our room block at the Marriott UIC is almost completely sold out and that some nights are now unavailable. We are currently taking a waiting list for individuals who need a reservation. If you would like to be put on our waiting list, please access the following link:

We have secured an overflow hotel nearby at the same rate. More information about the overflow hotel will be announced by Friday, September 19th. Therefore, please move forward with registering to attend Midwifery Works! 2014 because the overflow property will have plenty of rooms available.

Midwives flying in from other regions of the United States will find that airfare into Midway International Airport is highly affordable.

Midwifery Works! 2014 attendees may sign up for the Room Share Listserv to arrange to share a room with a fellow attendee. Interested in sharing a room?  Do you have a room to offer? Please join the ACNM Room Share Listserv to communicate directly with your peers about your options.
