Mental Health Resources

National Maternal Mental Health Hotline

The United States Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently launched the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline. The 24/7 Hotline provides emotional support and mental health related to fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, termination, and perinatal loss. Counselors provide safe, confidential support without judgement to all help seekers.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline remains an important resource for all people in crisis. We encourage you to provide all clients with these resources, regardless of whether they disclose mental illness, trauma or crisis. Suicide is a leading cause of death among childbearing people. Morbidities related to undertreated mental illness extend across the lifespans and generations of the families and communities we serve.

Perinatal Mental Health Task Force

In addition, ACNM knows its membership seeks reliable resources to look after their own mental health. The ACNM Perinatal Mental Health Task Force will be exploring ways to better support the mental and emotional well-being of midwives. The National Alliance on Mental Illness has information and resources for frontline providers affected by mental illness, trauma, and pandemic related stress. If you are struggling, you are not alone. Do not suffer in silence.
