Eileen M. Ehudin BeardSenior Practice Advisor
Since 2009, Eileen Ehudin Beard, CNM, FNP, MS, has worked for the American College of Nurse-Midwives in the department of Professional Practice & Health Policy as the Senior Practice Advisor. Eileen fulfilled her dream to become a certified nurse-midwife in 1977 after graduating from State University of New York at Downstate. She has practiced full-scope midwifery care for most of her career. In 1981, Eileen opened the first Birth Center in Maryland, the Baltimore Birth Center. She is also the co-founder of Special Beginnings Birth and Women’s Center which opened in 1997. Eileen has served as adjunct faculty and preceptor for nursing, midwifery, and nurse practitioner students from across the country. From 1993 until 2003, Eileen was a Governor-appointee committee member for the Maryland State Commission on Infant Mortality. In 2003, she earned her MS degree and Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Stony Brook University. Eileen has had a special interest in working with patients who are physically and mentally challenged.
