The Level of Support Is Phenomenal

I am currently 32 weeks along with my fourth little blessing and finally got the opportunity to use a midwife! I had been trying for several pregnancies, but being in the military we move a lot and just were not stationed where a midwife in network was available. I grew up on the "nature is best" idea as the eldest of 7 children with a mother who took tandem nursing to a higher level (at one point there were 4 of us nursing to some extent). My biggest complaint of past pregnancies is that no one trusted me to know my body. Doctors didn't trust me to know how to care for my child and even nurse properly. I showed up at the hospital with my second child already transitioning and was told to calm down I couldn't be that far along. Well, a nurse caught my son bare handed as he literally flew out into the world! It was at this point that I knew next time would be different. Unfortunately, with my third I tried very hard to get a midwife but it didn't work out. So here we are with the fourth getting to see a wonderful group of midwives and I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to laboring under their care and not being bugged to take pain meds (I've already done it without twice anyway) or to stop nursing my newborn so much and send her to the nursery. My appointments are never rushed, and my midwives feel more like friends along my journey rather than medical personnel. The level of support they offer is phenomenal. Most of all, they trust me to trust my body.
