I Instantly Felt Comfortable with Her
I was fortunate to learn about midwifery care during my first pregnancy. After personal testimonies from other mothers and following my own research, I decided midwifery care was the way to go. Although I didnít have the pleasure of having my midwife during my first pregnancy, labor, and delivery, I did throughout my second. And I will never forget the profound affect that choice forever made on mine and my sonís life.
I decided to meet my midwife six months before my second pregnancy and after about five minutes, I instantly felt comfortable with her. After talking to her, I felt confident in her midwifery care. She is an amazing, funny, and super intelligent woman, the type of individual that we cannot only easily connect with, but know we can put our very trust and faith in that they have their best intentions always while we are placed in their care.
I donít have a big, crazy birthing story to tell of my experience with my midwife. Like she commented following the birth, ďthis was textbook.Ē To me, of course, my sonís birth was shockingly extraordinary. It was so because I trusted my body and let it and my baby do what needed to be done to birth my little miracle. And it went exactly how I imagined it would. It was wonderful. And I had my midwife by my side throughout the experience. She was calm and in just the little looks she gave me and in the soft words she spoke, I was able to feel confident throughout its entirety that I would have the birth I longed for without any worries of complication. She never made me feel like a ďpatientĒ who needed to be rescued. She never made me feel like I had to do what she told me. She really just let me birth at my own pace and in my own way. And in those words, I believe that thatís what makes midwifery so remarkable. Midwives put the power of birthing back into the womanís hands. Birthing naturally, in the way we were made to birth, has allowed for better, safer experiences and midwives know this. Iím so fortunate to have had the experience of midwifery care.
