ACNM Affiliates - Resource Center

With Women, for a Lifetime.ACNM affiliates were approved under the ACNM bylaws by the members in May 2008. Much work was done to prepare and plan for this new structure, which "went live" in January 2011 and was completed with an affiliate organization in each state and several additional US territories in fall 2012. The affiliates will allow ACNM to reach its goal of having the strongest possible network to enhance midwifery practice, women's health, and maternity care.

What is an affiliate? An affiliate is an official organization for ACNM members within a state, territory or federal district, which serves as the organizing body for all activities organized by ACNM members in its jurisdiction. Affiliates can continue to have chapters if they choose; this would be defined in the affiliate bylaws.

Since 2011, all ACNM members must be members of their appropriate affiliate organization as well as the national organization. Members of the military may opt to join the Uniformed Services Affiliate or the state affiliate where they reside. Members working in an IHS or tribal health setting may choose the IHS/Tribal Affiliate. Membership dues notices from ACNM national will include both national and affiliate dues.
