Exactly what I wanted

When I became pregnant, I found a large midwife practice that worked at the hospital where I'd chosen to give birth. The more I read about midwives after that, the more certain I was of my decision and of the ability of my body to do what it was supposed to do. I was confident the whole way through that any of the 20 midwives in the practice would treat me as a person, not a patient, and their constant reassurances that I was doing fine during the pregnancy bore that out. When I went into labor, I had full confidence in myself and my providers, the midwives let me call the shots and kept up my confidence, and because of this, I was able to birth my daughter naturally. I'm sticking to my one and only daughter, but I happily refer any newly pregnant friends to use midwives for their care.
