State Government Affairs Support Specialist
The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) seeks qualified candidates for our position of State Government Affairs Support Specialist. This 20-hour per week position reports to our Director for Advocacy and Government Affairs and is located at our ACNM National Office, Silver Spring, MD. This staff position serves to support state government affairs activities for the ACNM, as a point of contact for state affiliate advocacy leadership and our national advocacy volunteer structure, and helps to develop materials and guidance, consistent policies and procedures, consistent data upkeep, and meetings in person and via conference call or webinar, in support of state government affairs strengthening.
Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s degree in government or related field, plus three years’ experience in a professional association environment in which the candidate comes into regular contact with membership, leadership, clients or customers; and demonstrated capability to review and analyze state legislation and regulation and to write concise summaries. The ideal candidate has familiarity with issues in women’s health and health policy. A diverse pool of candidates is being sought.
