The purpose of the organization Directors of Midwifery Education (DOME) is to advance midwifery education through a national network of midwifery education program directors that provides a forum for information exchange, peer support, mentorship, and advisement on issues, policies, and trends pertinent to midwifery education. Active members are Directors of Nurse-Midwifery/Midwifery education programs accredited or preaccredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), formerly known as the Division of Accreditation (DOA) of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).

The organization meets twice a year - once at the ACNM Annual Meeting in the Spring and again in the Fall in conjunction with the Midwifery Business Network. Members bring to the table matters that impact midwifery education in the United States, including growing the number of midwifery graduates annually, the procurement of clinical sites for the training of midwifery students in every region of the country, staying abreast of policy issues that affect the education of midwives, and communicating with midwifery education organizations worldwide in the hopes of expanding the profession of midwifery globally.
