ACNM Supports Legislation to Protect Access to Osteoporosis Testing

Osteoporosis affects 55% of people 50 years of age and older. Although the Affordable Care Act temporarily raised reimbursement rates for DXA tests in physician offices, rates will be cut on January 1, 2012 unless Congress acts soon. “Preservation of Access to Osteoporosis Testing for Medicare Beneficiaries Act” (S. 1096/H.R. 2020) would protect patient access to osteoporosis testing.
