Nurse/Nurse-Midwives Needed to Teach in Sub-Saharan Africa- Peace Corps

Nurse/Nurse-Midwives Needed to Teach in Sub-Saharan Africa

Description

The Peace Corps and Seed Global Health are seeking your expertise to serve as a volunteer nurse educator in our Global Health Service Partnership. Our volunteer nurse educators teach and mentor at nursing schools and affiliated teaching health facilities/hospitals in Sub-Saharan Africa. In coordination with host country faculty, Volunteers will primarily function as adjunct faculty within nursing academic institutional settings. The goal of this Partnership is to address the critical shortage of nursing and midwife faculty in resource constrained countries. Volunteers are needed to work in close collaboration with the Ministries of Health, Education, and other institutions to increase capacity and strengthen the quality and sustainability of nursing/midwifery education and clinical practice.

The Nurse/Midwife volunteer educators will work closely with existing faculty, nurse leaders, and members of the institutional professional development team in the enhancement of curricula and appropriate clinical modules and, as needed, assist in the establishment of course/clinical goals and outcomes, and methods to effectively evaluate programs. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to serve as a resource for faculty, providing lectures and in-services, advice on evidence-based nursing practices, as well as access to the latest research in specialty areas. Volunteers will be responsible for fostering a model of integrated education and practice among medical, nursing, and midwifery students
