In preparation for the 29th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), June 19-23 in Durban, South Africa, 5k were held events around the world to bring attention to the needless death of mothers and their babies, and the midwives working to save their lives. On the Road to Durban
On June 18, midwives and supporters will walk a 5k march into Durban to demonstrate solidarity with African midwives and help publicize the urgent need for better maternal and newborn health across the developing world, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
