The Midwives of Color Committee (MOCC)
Mission and/or Vision
The Midwives of Color Committee recruits and retains persons of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds to the profession of midwifery, provides educational preparation to the ACNM Membership, which will develop respect for cultural variations, and increases awareness and responsiveness among ACNM members to maternal/child health care issues affecting people of color.
Committee Member Responsibilities
- Attend Quarterly Meetings
Identify the critical issues for students and midwives of color to be addressed by ACNM
- Develop work projects related to the issues identified
- Participate in planning MOCC activities related to the ACNM Annual Meeting. This can include choosing a theme for the MOCC Fundraising and Social Event, promoting educational sessions presented by midwives of color and identifying midwives for MOCC Awards.
- Soliciting, reviewing, selecting, and coordinating the educational portions of the annual meeting. They may assist speakers and members attending workshops, educational sessions, and business meetings.
