Friends of the Midwives of Color Committee and Ethnic Diversity Caucus


We are ACNM members who are dedicated in assisting the work of the Midwives of Color Committee (MOCC) and in promoting and increasing ethnic diversity among midwives.

Call for Nominations Announced January 2019

Send a letter of interest and your CV to Venay Uecke no later than 9:00AM (ET) on April 27, 2019


Elections will be held by electronic ballot shortly after the ACNM Annual Meeting.

Please outline in your letter of interest what it is that you feel you are called to bring to this committee. Use “Call for Nominations” in the subject line of the email. For more information about the committee responsibilities, desired qualifications, and chair qualifications, please read our description below, and contact Venay if you have any questions.

Applicants/Nominees will be notified by May 10, 2019. Additionally, nominations from the floor will be solicited at the ACNM 64th Annual Meeting & Exhibition near Washington, DC. Please let Venay know if you will be attending the annual meeting. This is not a requirement, but the caucus officers would love to meet you.

In accordance with the SROP, the following restrictions apply:


  • Must be an active member of ACNM in good standing.Able to carry out the responsibilities of the position defined below
  • Agreement to a pledge of confidentiality and conflict of interest with regard to the business of ACNM.


I.  Maintain financial records of any monies collected or distributed by the group.
II.  Establish a business bank account for the caucus, where two officer signatures will be required for any withdrawals.
III.  Provide a full financial report at the ACNM Annual Meeting.
IV.  Assist in any budget preparation.
V.  Help develop any fundraising plans.
VI.  Make financial information available to members.


I.  Maintain a current list of active caucus members.
II.  Attend the caucus meeting at the ACNM Annual Meeting. If unable to attend will ensure a designee attends to take the minutes.
III.  Records and maintain minutes of business meetings held by the group.Term of office is for two years, however this is a special election for the position of treasurer therefore this position is for 1 or 3 years.

Vice President and Secretary will be elected on the odd number years and President and Treasurer on the even years. Current officers can be reelected for one additional, consecutive, two year term.

Once nominations have been submitted and closed, a copy of each person's CV and statement will be forwarded to the group for viewing prior to the vote.
