ACNM will work to clarify that midwives can assign their billing number under Medicare and Medicaid to an appropriate employer. This has caused some confusion with providers and midwives. Midwives can assign their billing rights to an employer today, but ACNM will be seeking further clarification of this from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
