Maternal and Child Health Advisor needed in Rwanda
Rwanda Family Health Project –Short-Term Maternal and Child Health Advisor
Chemonics seeks a short-term maternal and child health advisor for the ongoing, USAID-funded Rwanda Family Health Project. This five-year program aims to increase the use of district-level facility and community-based family health services. The project works in an integrated set of service areas including family planning and reproductive health; HIV/AIDS; maternal, neonatal, and child health; malaria prevention and treatment; nutrition; safe water and hygiene; and tuberculosis. Chemonics looks for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
The short-term maternal and child health advisor will provide technical assistance and expertise to RFHP technical staff, districts and sites on the implementation and integration of maternal and child health services. He/she will provide clinical and technical input in the design of national and project level strategies to support service providers to improve access to and quality of MCH services at the facility and community level. The duration of the assignment is expected to be 4-8 weeks. The assignment will be primarily based in Kigali with frequent travel throughout Rwanda.
Advanced clinical degree (medicine, midwifery, nursing, physician’s assistant, etc.), public health, or related field.
Five to 7 years of relevant experience in MCH, IMCI, and nutrition programs, preferably in international settings.
Demonstrated experience in capacity-building and in working effectively with government counterparts at all levels, NGO partners, local organizations, and other program partners.
Experience providing assistance to Ministries of Health on activities related to MCH.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Fluent English required; proficient French preferred.
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
