MANA Region I Conference

The New Hampshire Midwives Association and MANA Region 1 invite proposals for the MANA Region I Conference, Murmuration of Midwives, March 1 - 3, 2013, on any topic relevant to midwifery care, practice, and politics, for workshop sessions during the conference.   Applications should be submitted electronically as .doc or .pdf files to [email protected], with "Call for Abstracts" in the subject line.  For more information, visit the conference website at http://mana.org/conf.htmlDue date for submissions is October 1, 2012.

All applications for sessions must include the following:

1. Title of session.

2. Length of session in minutes.

3. Name of presenter(s) and credentials.

4. Teaching and delivery methods.  Examples include lecture, panel discussion, etc.

5. List at least three measurable behavioral objectives or learning outcomes.  Describe what the outcome of the session will be, what learners will accomplish, and what learners will gain in knowledge, skills, or attitudes. The outcomes must be observable, measurable, and done by the learner.

6. Content summary submitted in outline format, with time allotted for each subject area.  Behavioral learning objectives should be reflected in the content description.

7. Assessment of learning objectives.  Describe how you will assess whether the learners have met the objectives of the session.  Include 3 examples of pre-/post-session questions and answers.

8. References/bibliography.  Include a minimum of 4 references, of which at least 75% must have been published and/or significantly updated within the last four years.  No more than 50% can be internet sources.  Examples of acceptable sources include peer-reviewed and other journal articles, textbooks, research-based internet references, and film/video.

9. Full-length resume or curriculam vitae for each presenter.  Include relevant educational degrees, professional credentials, work experience, continuing education workshops, publication, or other presentations relevant to the session topic.

10. Note if the session has been approved for CEUs in the past.  If so, note when and for which professional organization and/or conference.
