STATEMENT FROM ACNM BOARD OF DIRECTORS ON CHANGES IN ACNM EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP
I would like to take this opportunity to formally announce changes within ACNM’s Executive Leadership. The ACNM Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of CEO Frank J. Purcell effective October 1, 2017.
We are grateful for the last year Frank has served ACNM. During his leadership tenure, Frank has implemented a restructuring process to promote efficiencies at the national office, increased our impact on health policy, including expanding resources within the national office to support affiliates, and recently has marshaled members, volunteer leaders and staff to offer support to our affected members and the communities we serve during the three back-to-back hurricanes. Frank has led our national office during a time of particular challenge in the health policy and advocacy arena. He has engaged new stakeholders to strengthen our advocacy voice on critical issues of access and coverage of services and to advance midwifery in the United States. We extend our appreciation for his service and wish him well as he pursues other professional interests.
The Board of Directors is now working on next steps to address the CEO vacancy. We will continue to provide the services and programming our members expect and deserve as we move through this transition process. We will report back to the membership early next week with our plans for interim leadership and next steps in launching our search for a permanent CEO. With our strong national office staff and volunteer leadership, ACNM continues to have a profound influence among multiple stakeholders that together influence health care delivery and policy, which in turn promotes midwifery and midwives.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected].
On behalf of the ACNM Board of Directors,
Lisa Kane Low PhD CNM FACNM FAAN, Board President
