Midwifery Education Trends Report

Midwifery Education Trends Report 2011 identifies trends in factors that affect the ACNM goal of producing increasing numbers of midwives to meet the maternity and women’s health care needs in the United States and abroad. Numbers of applications, admissions, available spaces and graduates of ACME-accredited midwifery education programs from 2005 through 2009 are reviewed, as well as highlights from the 2009-2010 midwifery education program directors’ survey.
Midwives Teaching Nurses
Midwives Teaching Nurses (MTN) is a caucus that shares best practices, recommended texts and other teaching tips for midwives who teach undergraduate nurses. Members of this caucus provide presentations at the ACNM Annual Meeting highlighting the importance of this professional role for midwives.
Directors of Midwifery Education
Directors of Midwifery Education (DOME) is a group comprised of the current directors of midwifery education programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME). Members strive to advance midwifery education through information exchange, peer support, mentorship, and advisement on issues, policies, and trends pertinent to midwifery education.
