Division of Education

Function

The ACNM Division of Education (DOE) functions to establish and update educational resources to facilitate the preparation of midwives. 

The DOE is responsible for the determination of activities that facilitate competency in the practice of midwifery and develops criteria that allow an individual to demonstrate such competency. Additionally, the DOE delineates and implements the process for practicing midwives to obtain current knowledge and update skills including the development and approval of continuing education programs. 

The DOE also works with the membership and the Directors of Midwifery Education to ensure preceptor recruitment and development and with students to assure attention to current and emerging student issues.
