FACNM Speed Mentoring Breakfast
Are you looking for a leadership mentor, an experienced midwife who can give you advice to move your work forward? Maybe there?s a special project you?ve been imagining and could use some quick evaluation and advice. Maybe you?re looking for ways to volunteer your expertise to move midwifery forward. Or, maybe it?s time for your work for midwifery and women and their families to be recognized by the Fellowship.
The 2016 Speed Mentoring Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 7:30 - 8:30AM in the Convention Center West Building, 60 Estancia. There will be room for 20 members and 20 FACNM mentors. We are recruiting members wanting mentoring and career development advice. This offering is intended for experienced midwives, not students or new graduates. If you?re interested, email Cindy Farley at [email protected].
The Fellow designation, initiated in 1994, is an honorary title for midwives who have demonstrated leadership, clinical excellence, outstanding scholarship, and professional achievement at local, state, regional, national and international levels. Their work and leadership improves maternal-child health and promotes the work of midwives. Fellowship is limited to ACNM members and has been bestowed on more than 230 members. The mission of the Fellowship is to serve the ACNM in a consultative and advisory capacity.
In 2013, the ACNM Board of Directors charged the Fellowship with developing a mentoring program for ACNM members because of the Fellowship?s broad and diverse midwifery and women?s health experiences. The Fellowship was interested in expanding its membership and helping midwives prepare for the Fellowship. The Fellowship developed the 2014 Speed Mentoring Breakfast, 90 minutes for members to pick the brains of Fellows at the ACNM Annual Meeting. Members bring a copy of their CV, have breakfast with the Fellows, and then talk to a new Fellow every 5 minutes. The whirlwind breakfast was successfully repeated at the 2015 ACNM Annual Meeting. Several of those who attended the breakfasts have been inducted as Fellows or found new ways to lead within ACNM.
Don?t miss this opportunity to get advice and breakfast with the Fellows!
