Catholic Maternity Institute Tour
On Saturday, May 21, the New Mexico Affiliate of ACNM is offering a special guided, pre-convention tour of the Catholic Maternity Institute (CMI)—a place with significant historical roots for midwifery and ACNM. Participants will walk 5 minutes from the Albuquerque Convention Center, board the #704 Rail Runner Express train at 1:42PM for a scenic, fun, educational train ride, and stroll through the Santa Fe Plaza to visit the old CMI site. After the tour, plan to enjoy a delicious, reasonably priced dinner at one of the many award-winning restaurants in Santa Fe before taking the last evening train (#709) at 8:12PM to Albuquerque. The $25 ticket for the trip includes a round trip train ticket, a reprint of Sr. Theophane’s 1946 master’s dissertation, History of Nurse-Midwifery in the U.S., and a visit to the old CMI property guided by CMI historian Ellen Craig, CNM.
