ACNM 58th Annual Meeting & Exhibition: A Rare Opportunity for Real-Life Connection

By Letitia Sullivan, CNM, Chair, ACNM National Program Committee

In today’s age of social media, online education, and electronic health records, opportunities for connecting in real life are becoming few and far between. For those of us craving  in-person professional support, the ACNM 58th Annual Meeting & Exhibition is the annual event specifically designed to connect the high-touch profession of midwifery. If you haven’t been to an ACNM Annual Meeting recently, I invite you to rediscover the value of renewing your midwifery spirit in the company of your colleagues and peers.

Learn from Local Innovators

With 100 education sessions and workshops, networking activities and events, and a thriving Exhibit Hall, the opportunities for real-life learning and connection at the ACNM 58th Annual Meeting & Exhibition are endless.

We’re proud to welcome White House Champion of Change and local Nashville innovator Becca Stevens as the ACNM 58th Annual Meeting & Exhibition keynote speaker. Stevens is the founder of Magdalene & Thistle Farms, a community and social enterprise that stands with women recovering from trafficking, prostitution, addiction, and life on the streets.

In her keynote address, Stevens will remind midwives how their individual and communal work changes women, families, and the world. Together, we will honor our inheritance as healers, acknowledge that our work can be difficult, and celebrate our profession as we inspire one another to move forward.

Support Newborns and Hard-Working Women

New this year, ACNM is asking for items to be donated to Magdalene, the residential program founded by Becca Stevens. Thistle Farms is the social enterprise run by the women of Magdalene, who make all of the company's products by hand and directly benefit from their sales.

We’ll also be collecting knit caps for newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital in Nashville. The hospital, affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is nationally recognized for exceptional pediatric care. Caps will be collected in the Exhibit Hall onsite and donated en mass.
